Got the same code after doing lpfp and hpfp. Thought it was bad lpfp and switched it back and it didn’t fix it. Put the stock hpfp back on and it worked fine. Sent my xdi pump back in and it did in fact fail. Almost instantly too

Test drove one. Gotta say, didn't come away that impressed. Bloody awful at traffic light drags. Torque steer around tight bends. All the usual FWD nonsense. R-mode was bouncier than a kids trampoline and the engine note was actually so awful it became an irritation. Like a cross between an angry bee and a hairdryer. On the plus side, high speed handling was sensational, possessed excellent brakes, seats were the best I've ever sat in, the steering feel was GT3-like and that gear shift. None better. But in the end I walked away because I was hoping all the hype about his car finally taming the gremlins of FWD life were way overblown. It is, after all, built around a cheap hatchback designed to haul shopping and babies in relative safety,

Why do you post a video with this title and then ramble for 15 minutes just to convey that you're replacing tires and dampers? And then give advice on oil change intervals without consulting the manual without any real evidence on why you should stray from what the manual says? Also, what makes you think that driving carefully at low oil temperatures is going to prevent engine damage caused by potentially bad valve guides?? This was so frustrating to watch. Either way, amazing car! I'm in the market for one but unfortunately haven't had much luck finding many '09 or later models in my area.

Your not a real car enthusiast if you don’t know that if you refill your type R and not tighten the cap after refill it will do this u need to make sure it’s tight tight

I have a ‘15 ZL1 Vert M6 and an ‘09 Z06. This February I bought the Z06 with 17k km. I brought it in to correct the valve issues and I did a BTR 2 cam, header s, high flow cats, CAI and a tune and I would keep the vette if pressed to choose one.

Fk8 its still good own my sence new 2017 101.000 miles on it still drive wonderfull and like new very comfort drive

The same thing happened to me on my fk8, if there is little gas left and you turn very hard to the right, the gasoline from the pump escapes through the tank.

You just described the versatility of most hot hatches, its just that USA only has limited options so everyone loses their mind over the Type R. You could have swapped out the CTR for a Renault Megane RS Trophy and make the same video.

Mine did the same thing 2 times. My son worked at a Honda dealership and he Did say there is a massive recall on Honda fuel pumps. You should check that out.

Same problem that I had a few months back. I was a bit under 1/2 on fuel and it went into limp mode in turn 4. My problem was "low fuel rail pressure". As just a swing at the problem, I took the car to the dealer and they were glad to oblige and called Honda America support who recommended replacing the HIGH pressure fuel pump. They love warranty work like Doctors love Medicare. I'm not very hopeful about that fixing it since the fuel rail is the LOW pressure side. We'll see how the fix works. Haven't been to the track in awhile but hope to be able to get there a couple of times this summer (ugh). Oh yeah, had to cancel my trip to Barber as well. Was looking forward to meeting Georgina.

With the Type S module it will really help settle down the car over the curbs and help out with your lap time. I have had the issue with the car going in limp mode on track but I was super low on fuel lol

Next mod put some V730s, I have them on my S2k they're great for double duty. I daily them and do track days, they last about 8k miles or practically a whole year of driving. I think they're the perfect balance between grip, endurance, and price.

Sounds like fuel starvation，my STI will have those issue after long right turn when on straight like last 2 turn on Thompson if my fuel lower than 3/4，so I have to bring gas to track，and I heard that if you starve the pump too much or too many times it probably will broke

What's it like (in terms of fun/enjoyment) driving a stock FL5 after the FK8 that was hooked up with suspension/etc? And how does this compare to all your chevy power? Seems like you come back to this one as your "happy place'. Do the limitations of stock get frustrating? Or is it still just fun to dance on the limits evdn though (presumably) theyre lower?

Just get some 2×4 woods and drive both tires so it can give you a 2 inch lift and you'll be fine

Perfect one car? , the way I look at 1 car garage it needs to go off road 4x4 trailes , than do some rally cross , than a track day , and it has to be a comfy for daily, and too brake all ur harts it's not fl5 it's a subaru sti or a porsche that's it

I absolutely LOVE my zr2 I've had Nissan, ford,dodge,an Toyota. Only way I'd get ride of mine is trade it for a new zr2.onlyy thing that can compare is ford ranger raptor.

This is a case of wrong tool for the job .A track hoe is the better tool for these conditions.

Your experience is just another reason as to why I'd never buy a track machine. Yes they have enormous advantages over a wheeled machine but in your situation, you cant even tow / wrench it out of the hole without risking more damage to the track and itssystems.

Hi there - I hear a lot of whatever everyone already knows. Bottom line is you got an awesome car that is over a decade old. What's the problem? its a drivers car. Perhaps sell it as you may not deserve it ;) Stop complaining - Live life and enjoy the car. Other enthusiasts would be more than happy to have this car. "engine blow up on you" lol just get the heads done to replace the exhaust valve guides. and ENJOY! peace out.

Love my c6z. Only downside, the interior is dated, and not really boost ready.

Totally agree. I wish there was a track closer to where I live, the best daily driver I've ever owned as an fk8 owner some day I'll own both and the fk8 will be dedicated to the track and more modifications and the fl5 would be my ultimate daily driver

My track (Toronto Motorsport Park) is 2hrs drive. If it was closer like 1hr drive, then season pass would be cool... I'm seeing 24psi of boost, while my Elantra N tops out at 16psi, which may explain EN's lower oil temp... Rear camera for those future chase scenes would be cool.

That's too many phone calls. I find out the invoice for the car. I use emails and get the Out The Door Price, including tax, title and fees etc. I then use the email offers to negotiate the price down, or use the written email offers against other dealership offers. I also eliminate the Doc fee, by reducing the price of the car. The Doc fee is not legally required. Many of the fees are just dealer profit. If all else fails, I factory order.

As an fk8 owner, the only significant disappointment with the fl5 is that they didn't solve the overheating issues with this engine. At stock engine power, it should be really hard to overheat the fluids. Such a great car other than that.

Fk that, I'll just picked up a used GR86 for $20k instead.

My C6Z is going on it's 18th year with original stock heads untouched, went ripping in it last night, but that said I take impeccable care of it change the oil at 3,000 mi or once a year whichever comes first always bring it to temperature before getting on it etc...you can definitely blow them up if you try so don't and enjoy 😎👍

Currently have a FBO stage 2 Kona N on 200tw tires, been an absolutely phenomenal car. Miles are adding up and I'll be getting something new here with the next few months, seeing videos like this really make me want to get a Type R. I have a few gripes, though. Can't decide between the Type R, Golf R, S3, M240i, and a few others. The Type R checks the least amount of boxes for me, but I want it more than all of the others for a few different reasons lol.

100%, hit the nail on the head. Both the FK8 and FL5 are the perfect single car solution for getting groceries and setting lap times. I find my FL5 is a bit better on the road daily driving than my FK8 was, but they are both superb vehicles. Glad to see you back in a Civic Type R, hope to see you at a Time Trial someday.
